Parts and conditions

Know exactly what you are buying, before you buy it.

Condition codes are not marketing language. Each one carries a specific meaning and a specific level of documentation, and we state both on the quote, not after the sale.

Part classes

How a part is managed once it is in service shapes how it should be bought. Here is what each class means for planning and stock.

Rotable

Designed to be repaired repeatedly and returned to serviceable stock after overhaul, rather than discarded when it develops a defect. Typically tracked by serial number across its service life.

Avionics line replaceable units, hydraulic pumps, landing gear actuators

Repairable

Can be repaired when it fails, but only for a limited service life or a limited number of repair cycles before it must be retired. Repair extends useful life without resetting it indefinitely.

Wiring harnesses, some composite panels, select structural brackets

Expendable

Usually not worth repairing, so it is discarded and replaced rather than sent to a repair station. The cost and complexity of repair rarely justify recovering the part.

Filters, gaskets, light bulbs, small mechanical fittings

Consumable

Used up during maintenance or operation and cannot be reinstalled once applied. Stock is tracked by quantity and shelf life, not by serial number.

Sealants, fluids, rivets, fasteners

Condition codes

From factory new to beyond economical repair, this is what each condition means when it appears on a quote from us.

FN

Factory New

Zero time
What it means
Never installed and shipped directly from the original manufacturer, with zero operating time or cycles. This is the highest confidence condition available, since the part has not left the OEM's controlled chain of custody.
Paperwork
Typically accompanied by an OEM certificate of conformance or an FAA Form 8130-3 issued by the manufacturer.

NE

New

Zero time
What it means
Unused and with zero operating time, but sourced through a distributor's stock rather than shipped straight from the OEM production line. Functionally equivalent to factory new for installation purposes.
Paperwork
Comes with a certificate of conformance from the distributor and, when available, the original OEM release documentation.

NS

New Surplus

Zero time
What it means
New and never installed, but obtained outside the manufacturer's original distribution channel, usually as surplus stock from an operator or MRO shop. Condition is equivalent to new, though the paper trail back to the OEM may be shorter.
Paperwork
Usually accompanied by a certificate of conformance or a trace to source statement from the seller of record.

OH

Overhauled

Restored
What it means
Disassembled, inspected, repaired and tested by a certified repair station following the manufacturer's overhaul manual. For the parameters covered by that manual, the part returns to a zero time baseline, even though the physical unit is not new.
Paperwork
Released with an FAA Form 8130-3 (or an equivalent authority form) identifying overhaul as the work performed.

SV

Serviceable

Restored
What it means
Inspected and approved for installation, but without a full overhaul. The part retains its accumulated operating time, and any life limited components keep counting from where they were.
Paperwork
Typically released with an FAA Form 8130-3 or equivalent, referencing inspection rather than overhaul.

RP

Repaired

Restored
What it means
A specific defect was corrected by a certified repair station, without a full overhaul of the unit. Accumulated operating time is retained, and the repair addresses only the discrepancy that was found.
Paperwork
Released with an FAA Form 8130-3 or equivalent, describing the repair performed and the applicable data used.

IN

Inspected

Restored
What it means
Examined and found airworthy in its current state, without any repair work performed. This condition confirms the part is safe to install as is, based on the inspection criteria applied.
Paperwork
Usually accompanied by an inspection report or an FAA Form 8130-3 referencing inspection only.

AR

As Removed

Requires evaluation
What it means
Removed from an aircraft or assembly with no inspection performed afterward. Actual condition is unknown until a certified repair station evaluates the part, so buyers should budget for testing before installation.
Paperwork
Typically comes with a removal tag or a trace to source statement, not an airworthiness release.

BER

Beyond Economical Repair

Requires evaluation
What it means
The cost of repair exceeds the value of the part, so it is not returned to service. These units are typically sold for material recovery or as an internal source of spare components.
Paperwork
Sold with a condition statement identifying the unit as BER, without an airworthiness release.

What to include in a request

    The exact number off the removed part or the manual, including any dash number or revision.

  2. 02

    Quantity

    How many units you need, so availability and pricing reflect the actual order.

  3. 03

    Acceptable condition

    Whether new, overhauled, serviceable or as removed is acceptable, or whether only one condition will do.

  4. 04

    Aircraft tail number

    Helps us confirm fit and check for any applicable airworthiness directive or service bulletin.

  5. 05

    Reason for removal

    Scheduled replacement, failure, or damage, this context helps us find the right alternate if the exact part is not on hand.
